The Very Best Product For The Cost – Coby Netbook Review
Once again, the best thing about this netbook is the keyboard. I’m the mom of a college student, and ordered this for him as an early Xmas gift. It cannot play back 720 or higher video. And, its playback of 480 is probably only ok by most people’s standards.
Used the Toshiba for a 6 week trip around the US and Canada. The size makes it ultra-portable and the screens still big enough to get what you need done. The keyboard is easy to use and full sized, which I love. I’ve seen some complaints about the track pad but we have had no problems, maybe because we paired it with a wireless mouse. For value and performance, it’s hard to beat this little jewel. Not true with this one – well designed, compact, good video, well designed keyboard, memory can be upgraded, not blazingly fast but adequate for general use. It’s advertised mainly as a communication device for Web browsing, email and Skype but I’ve already put it through some serious software and graphics loads without a hiccup. I wasn’t planning on using it for heavy-duty PC-like applications but it looks like it will be able to handle anything I dish out without objection. I would totally recommend this laptop for any student who needs to have their laptop all the time with him/her, like me. Just got this little baby about a week ago and am very happy I went with Toshiba. All the keys are the same size as a standard computer the only difference being this computer has no number pad on the side, just the numbers across the top, which works wonderfully. I am however a dance major.
It has worked like a charm, connecting to international wireless, fast enough to process documents, pictures and YouTube videos. Screen size and clarity are very good. It is lightweight and easy to just throw into a purse or a book bag, which is extremely convenient to me as a student. The battery life is amazing, too, which is extremely helpful if I’m in a classroom where I don’t have easy access to an outlet. I think this netbook is great and the best. And I was astonished by the keyboard. It saved me from having to watch Vanessa Hudgens in Beastly. Just an aside, I have a bone to pick with Amazon constantly changing prices.
This is a great product, first of all. The keyboard is comfortable, the track pad is sensitive and easy to use, it is light, it feels good in the hands, and (easily the best feature in my eyes) the layout of the USB ports is amazing. Plus, that’s what headphones are for son. Touchpad mouse can be a little dicey at times but nothing to lose my mind over.
Volume and monitor functions are better handled with software applets. Suspend and hibernation work, but very slowly.
I needed it for a birthday present this weekend and I’m out of luck. compare dog food.

I Like This – Netbook Laptop Critique
I was able to install Windows 7 Professional and 2GB of memory without too much problem. All the required drivers and software are on the Toshiba website. It literally snaps in and out. All in all, it’s a great little computer. Used the Toshiba for a 6 week trip around the US and Canada. The size makes it ultra-portable and the screens still big enough to get what you need done.
It is almost the same size as my original Toshiba square screen laptop, and dumps that annoying and useless number key pad on the right, which seems to be present on all other laptops and for most of us serves no useful purpose. You get just the part of the keyboard you need with essentially full-sized keys. I needed Wi-Fi and the ability to upload photos, to access email and Yahoo messenger and the ability to upload routes to my Garmin via Map Source. I have had several Toshiba Laptops in the past and they all performed flawlessly. Toshiba gives it to Amazon in a little box, and the laptop itself is just in eggshell packaging. What’s worse is that Amazon puts it in a box and DID NOT surround it with packaging material.
It’s so basic, really bare bones. I am also upgrading that. I have loaded it with the latest version of Office and it works like a charm. Just one little drawback: I can’t change the blue desktop picture — a quirk of Windows 7, I think. I have been typing on every netbook I’ve come across for at least a year, and so far this keyboard has been the best one. Something about the way it’s laid out just makes it seem more expansive. Battery life is also great. Great job Toshiba, I am very happy. I’m a little concerned about overheating–but laptop coolers are fairly inexpensive, and I’m sure with it on my lap, it will get some air circulation. Probably can’t say the same thing about the floor.
As of May 2011, DDR3 prices have fallen below the price of DDR2. Therefore, Toshiba and other vendors made an update to their motherboards or BIOS to outfit it with the DDR3 for the obvious savings.
The best browser to use is Google chrome I have figured out. I never experience lag, can run several applications at once.
I recommend that you wait before upgrading memory because mine is a DDR3 (the specs say DDR2, although the description says DDR3). I would have been unpleasantly surprised had I ordered the 2G memory upgrade at the same time I purchased this. I did look at many reviews on Amazon and other webpages. What I did was delete the Norton Internet Security, and went with the free Avast Home Edition.
Toshiba refunded the cost, but did not suggest a solution so I tried Crucial. QUIET GENERATOR PORTABLE.
